How a result is built

Public filings are downloaded whole, kept as they were published, and matched on the EIN. Nothing is inferred that a filing did not say.

Matching

The EIN is the key. When two filings carry the same EIN, they describe the same entity and are shown together. Names are normalized for search only; the name on the card is the name on the most recent filing, and other names that appear in filings are listed as also filed as.

Dates

Every fact carries the date of the file or filing it came from. IRS data is stamped with the month of the extract. Department of Labor data is stamped with the date the filing was received. SEC data is stamped with the latest filing date.

What is left out

Records that read as a person rather than an organization are suppressed. Nothing is taken from IRS systems other than the published exempt-organization extract. This site does not verify a name against IRS records; that is IRS TIN Matching, available through the IRS or an authorized provider, and this site will point you there rather than imitate it.

If a record is wrong or describes a person, use the correction and removal page. The source filing is linked on every card so you can check it yourself.
