How to search the Maine registry
The Corporate Name Search searches by keyword from name (wildcard % allowed), charter number and entity category.
- Open the Corporate Name Search on the Secretary of State site.
- Enter a keyword from the name, using % as a wildcard if needed, or enter the charter number.
- Pick an entity category or leave it on all categories, then select Click Here to Search.
- Select a name in the results to open its Information Summary with status, filing date and registered agent.
- Use View List of Filings for the filing history; images cost $3 each and a good standing certificate costs $30.
Three numbers, three agencies
Asking for the wrong number is a common reason a search comes back empty.
