How to search the Virginia registry

The Clerk's Information System Business Entity Search searches by entity name and SCC entity ID.

  1. Open the Business Entity Search in the Clerk's Information System at cis.scc.virginia.gov.
  2. Answer the site's cookie consent screen; the search does not open if cookies are rejected.
  3. Type the entity name or SCC ID and run the search.
  4. Open the entity to see its status, registered agent, registered office and annual report and fee history.
  5. Pay an annual registration fee or file an annual report from the same record if you have a CIS account.

What a Virginia status means
