How to search the Utah registry

The Business Registration System, Business Entity Search searches by name (starts with, contains, or exact match), entity number, domicile name, principal name and registered agent name.

  1. Open businessregistration.utah.gov and choose Search Business Entity Records under Additional Options.
  2. Enter a name, entity number, domicile name, principal name or registered agent name, and pick Starts With, Contains or Exact Match.
  3. Wait for the automatic security check to show success, then select Search.
  4. Read the results for status, status details, type and entity number.
  5. Select the entity name to view its registered agent, principals and filing history.

Three numbers, three agencies

What a Utah status means

StatusWhat it means
Active - CurrentThe entity is registered and its renewal is current.
DelinquentThe entity missed its annual renewal and the division has mailed a delinquency notice to the registered agent.
Expired / Inactive - Administratively DissolvedThe entity did not answer the delinquency notice; the division mails an expiration notice and the record becomes inactive. Reinstatement needs $18 for each missed year plus a $10 delinquency fee.
Inactive - Voluntarily DissolvedThe entity filed its own dissolution.

Corporate franchise tax (minimum tax)Utah State Tax Commission. Form TC-20 is due by the 15th day of the fourth month after the tax year ends, or the federal due date if later. Every C corporation incorporated, qualified or doing business in Utah files a franchise tax return and pays at least the $100 minimum tax; S corporations are exempt from the minimum.
